As the weather cools and winter approaches, the City of West Point shared a reminder about snow removal.

The ordinance for snow removal and maintenance, vehicles should not be parked on any street or alley within 18 hours after a snowfall of three inches or more has occurred in a 24-hour period unless the snow has been removed within that time frame.

Another ordinance pertaining to snow removal for sidewalks states that all sidewalks should be cleaned within five hours after it has stopped snowing. If snowfall occurs during the night, sidewalks should be cleaned by 8:30 a.m. the following day.

Sidewalks within residential areas of the city should be cleaned 18 hours after the snowfall stops.

One final reminder involves the ordinance of moving snow to public streets or alleys being prohibited.

With that ordinance, it states that it is unlawful to move snow from private property onto any public sidewalk, street avenue, alley or other city-owned property.
