The West Point Community Theatre will be performing “A Bad Year For Tomatoes” starting November 6.
Authored by John Patrick, the comedy is about an actress visiting a New England town to write her autobiography. Set in the 1970s, the play premiered in Ohio in 1974.
Maureen Nitz will be directing with help from producer Cindy Hugo, and Gloria Wellman helped select cast members. Nine cast members were chosen after auditions in August, and the crew will include three sound/light technicians, one costume designer and four set crew members.
Nitz, who used to direct plays when she was a teacher, orchestrated her first production in West Point when she moved back last fall. The cast for this play has many of the same members from her first production, and she is looking forward to seeing everyone grow into their roles.
“This cast likes to have fun and put their own spin on things,” she said. “They enjoy being around and working with each other, so it should be good.”
Shows will be on November 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30. There will be a 2 p.m. matinee show November 8. A social hour will be held one hour before curtain, and tickets are available now for $10.
