Alda Grosserhode

Memorial Mass for Alda M. Grosserhode, age 97, of Dodge, NE will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, rural Dodge, NE. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Olean.

Alda passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.

Alda Mae Grosserhode was born in rural Cuming County, NE to Joe and Theresa (Knust) Rhode on January 30, 1929. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Olean, NE and graduated from Howells Public High School in 1946. Alda was employed by Mutual of Omaha for 1 ½ years before being united in marriage to Cy Grosserhode at Sacred Heart Heart Catholic Church in Olean, NE on June 8, 1948. To this union six children were born, Lynn, Karen, Wayne, Gary, Roy, and Lori. They were married for 69 years until Cy’s passing in 2018.

Alda was a member of St. Ann’s Sodality and served as President and Secretary/Treasurer. She was also a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church, Olean, NE. In addition to raising a family, Alda was the bookkeeper for Grosserhode Transfer for 40 years. She lived in the Olean vicinity 84 years before moving to Dodge in 2013. While living in Dodge, she volunteered at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. Alda enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children-Lynn (Randy) Kurtz of Dallas, TX, Karen (Joe) Danko of Prescott, AZ, Gary (Anita) Grosserhode of Dodge, NE, and Lori (Ronnie) Ray of Sachse, TX.

Alda’s grandchildren include-Jayme Danko of Prescott, AZ, Melissa (Dr. Abe) Schumacher of Omaha, NE, Ashley (Andrew) Curto of Park Ridge, IL, Kelsey (Sam) Fernando of Littleton, CO, and Marisa Kurtz of Dallas, TX. Alda’s great-grandchildren include-Knox, May, and Ruby Schumacher of Omaha, NE, Stefen Ray in Sachse, TX, Charlie and Benjamin Fernando of Littleton, CO, and Margaux Curto of Park Ridge, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Alta to their eternal rest includes-Cy (husband), Wayne (son), Roy (son), Joe and Theresa (Knust) Rhode (parents), Jermain and Reynold Rhode (brothers), Henry and Anna Grosserhode (Cy’s parents), Alice Rhode (sister-in-law), Linda Grosserhode (sister-in-law), and Leola Rhode (sister-in-law).
