County Board places CCED director on paid suspension

The Cuming County Board of Supervisors met in special session early Monday morning to discuss the personnel, management, and office issues pertaining to the Cuming County Economic Development office (CCED), after which CCED Executive Director G. David Branch was placed on paid administrative suspension.
The hour and fifteen-minute meeting began at 7 a.m., at which time the board voted to move into executive session to discuss personnel issues.
Upon reconvening in open session, Supervisor Glen Wiechman made a motion to place Branch on paid administrative suspension, effective immediately. Supervisor Mark Schweers seconded the motion. All supervisors present – Wiechman, Schweers, Judy Mutzenberger, Steve Meister, and Maynard Munderloh – supported the motion. Chad Dixon and Norbert Holtz were absent.
According to the minutes of Monday’s special meeting, the suspension came about because of issues related to county personnel conduct, and insubordination issues such as hours worked, interactions with supervisors, and actions involving the Economic Development office.
The minutes further stated, “Cuming County will take all reasonable actions to implement this administrative suspension.”
The length of the suspension is not known at this time.
West Point to install Flock cameras
West Point’s City Council voted 5-0 at its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night to approve the installation and use of two Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader cameras.
The cameras, which have dominated the news cycle in recent months, capture images of passing vehicles, storing license plate numbers and vehicle details in a searchable database used by police for investigations such as locating stolen vehicles or identifying vehicles linked to criminal activity.
The Cuming County News will have more about the cameras in its city council story in next week’s edition.
